Getafe vs Barcelona

Barcelona will be aiming to move seven points clear of main rivals Real Madrid with victory at newly-promoted Getafe. Manager Ernesto Valverde indicated he will make changes at the start of a week which will see a home game against Eibar on Tuesday night followed by a trip to Girona next Saturday. Paco Alcacer has returned to training after missing the Juventus game due to illness but Arda Turan and Rafinha Alcantara will both remain on the sidelines for most, if not all, of a busy week. Getafe won away to Leganes last Friday and will be aiming to take down Barcelona for the first time in six years. To do just that, they will have to unlock the Barca defence, which has yet to be cracked this season.

Match Stats:

  • Getafe 1-2 Barcelona
  • Shots: 11-8
  • Possession: 37-63%
  • Corner kicks: 3-4

An exceptional performance throughout from Getafe and they will feel disappointed to be leaving with zero points. Barcelona improved in the second half but Getafe continued to be persistent and causing problems for their opponents without finding the opportunity to find a second goal. In the end of was the substitutes that made the difference for Barcelona and even after their improved display it still took clinical finishing from  Denis Suarez and Paulinho, with their only real chances of the game, to seal the three points today. Impressive display from Getafe, but it is Barcelona who walk away with all three points and continue their 100% start to their La Liga campaign.
