Liverpool vs Man Utd
14 Oct, Saturday, 7:30pm

Big Match Preview:
This feisty match on the English football calendar will be without one of its main protagonists. Liverpool have confirmed that Sadio Mane is set to miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury. The speed demon is also set to miss two upcoming key fixtures against Tottenham and Chelsea.

This is not the best of news for the Reds, who are winless in six EPL matches against Man Utd, their worst run since an eight-match winless streak between 2004 and 2008.

While Liverpool are seven points off the pace and need to win this Anfield showdown to stay in the title hunt, United sit second after a superb start to the season, winning six of their seven opening games and scoring 21 goals in the process.

Victory here for Jose Mourinho's men will give them 22 points, their best points tally after eight matches of a EPL season.

Big Team news:
Roberto Firmino was dropped in Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Newcastle prior to the international break, but is likely to start. Adam Lallana is up and running again but is still several weeks away from full fitness.

Man Utd will be without midfield dynamo Paul Pogba due to a 'long-term' injury, while Marouane Fellaini, who has enjoyed a renaissance this season, is also set to miss out after damaging his knee for Belgium whilst on international duty.

Big Stats
Big Stat 1: Since Jose Mourinho became Man Utd manager, both clubs have won the same number of EPL points
Big Stat 2: Romelu Lukaku is looking to become the first player to score eight goals in his first eight league games for United.
Big Stat 3: Martin Atkinson, who is the referee for this match, sent off Steven Gerrard 38 seconds after he came on as a sub in this corresponding fixture back in 2015.

Fastgoal's prediction: Liverpool 1-2 Man Utd

For the second season running Liverpool and Manchester United played out a goalless, but entertaining, draw at Anfield.

United were indebted to David De Gea for some excellent goalkeeping.

His best save came on 35 minutes when he stuck out a foot to deny Joel Matip from close range, before Mohamed Salah missed the rebound.

United might have equalised just before the interval but Romelu Lukaku was thwarted by Simon Mignolet after a one-touch move involving the Belgian and Anthony Martial.

On 55 minutes Joe Gomez picked out Emre Can who volleyed wide, and Dejan Lovren headed over late on, but a lively home side could find no breakthrough.

Unbeaten Man Utd went top of the table before Manchester City moved back above them later in the day. Liverpool's third draw in four matches leaves them seventh.
