Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg talismanic captain Mario Gomez sits out this one, and the team will be missing Cameroon-born French forward Paul-Georges Ntep as well. He serves a one-match ban following his sending off against Mainz. Under new coach Martin Schmidt, Wolfsburg have gone on an impressive run, managing draws with Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and Mainz.

Leverkusen, who wobbled early in the season, have also turned a corner. They enter this contest on the back of a two-match unbeaten run.

Have your eyes peeled on the resurgent Kevin Volland. The playmaker has enjoyed a fine scoring run since being pushed to a supporting role behind the outright striker, netting four goals in seven Bundesliga matches since.

Goals are guaranteed when these two sides meet. There have been 37 goals in the last eight matches between them, which works out to an average of 4.6 goals per game.

Match Stats:

  • Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Wolfsburg
  • Shots: 15-5
  • Possession: 53%-47%
  • Corner kicks: 11-2

Another day, another enthralling Bundesliga encounter, this time at the BayArena. Bayer Leverkusen raced into a deserved lead, Lars Bender smashing home from close range, but Divock Origi's superb header levelled before the break for Wolfsburg. The hosts again went ahead in the second half, Lucas Alario finishing off a fine team move, but the Wolves struck back again, Jakub Blaszczykowski scoring his first goal for the club to rescue a point and make it four consecutive draws under Martin Schmidt's stewardship.
