Brighton vs Southampton

It is a big south coast derby, and Southampton have a strong record against Brighton, having won five of their last seven away matches against them. In fact, the Saints are more resilient when playing away from home, collecting more wins (5) than they have at home (4).

Brighton will need to depend on Pascal Gross to power them forward. The German has been involved in six of the team's nine EPL goals (two goals, four assists).

Nathan Redmond, meanwhile, is enduring a difficult time. The pacy winger has attempted the most shots (24) without scoring a goal in the season.

Brighton are without the veteran Steve Sidwell but have Tomer Hemed - scorer of the winning goal against Newcastle - available again after suspension. Southampton are at full strength except Mario Lemina (ankle).

Match Stats:

  • Brighton 1-1 Southampton
  • Shots: 7-6
  • Possession: 52%-48%
  • Corner kicks: 2-7

Glenn Murray's third goal in two matches earned Brighton & Hove Albion a 1-1 draw against Southampton.

Murray struck on 52 minutes when he rose at the far post to head in Pascal Gross's hanging cross.

The visitors had taken the lead with just seven minutes played when Steven Davis headed in the rebound after James Ward-Prowse had struck the post with a 25-yard free-kick.

Chris Hughton's side almost equalised three minutes before the interval when Shane Duffy headed Anthony Knockaert's cross off target.

Saints might have found a winner with 20 minutes left but Manolo Gabbiadini's effort was deflected over by Lewis Dunk's superb tackle.

The draw takes Southampton up to ninth, two places and a point ahead of the Seagulls.
