Lyon vs Everton

Depending on results, Everton could be knocked out of the competition if they lose in France. But that is not a major concern for caretaker manager David Unsworth, who is fighting to keep the Toffees clear of the relegation zone.

Wayne Rooney, Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka have all been left behind in England.

"We just wanted to freshen it up, with one eye on Sunday," said Unsworth, who take on Watford in the EPL this weekend.

Lyon's win at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago, which really was the penultimate nail in Ronald Koeman's coffin, was the first-ever competitive meeting between the two sides.

Astonishingly, six of Lyon's last seven home meetings with English sides have resulted in a draw, losing the other.

They have not won at home v English opposition since November 1967, beating Tottenham 1-0 in the now-defunct Cup Winners' Cup.

They have won four of their last five home games in the Europa League, drawing the other. They have also scored 17 goals in those games (3.4 per game), but have also failed to keep a clean sheet.
