Watford vs Man Utd

Despite enjoying a relatively good season, Man Utd are trying to avoid an unwanted stat they last earned in January 1996. Defeat at Vicarage Road, which they suffered so last season, will see them lose three successive EPL away matches for the first time since 1996.

As for Watford, they are aiming to win three EPL matches on the spin for the first time in almost two years.

Save for the 3-1 reverse last campaign, Jose Mourinho has been victorious in his three other EPL meetings against the Hornets, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Victory for United, who have scored just two goals in their last four away matches, will also see them reduce Man City's lead to 5 points.

The best way to swat the Hornets? Force them into conceding set-pieces. They have let in a EPL-high 11 goals from that situation, six of which were from corners.

Watford captain Troy Deeney is available after serving a three-match suspension.

Sebastian Prodl replaced Miguel Britos early in the second half at Newcastle on Saturday and is in contention for a first start since August.

Man Utd striker Romelu Lukaku is free to play after avoiding punishment for his conduct towards Brighton defender Gaetan Bong.

Marcos Rojo could make his first league appearance for seven-and-a-half months.

The defender returned from a long-term knee injury to play in the 1-0 Champions League defeat by Basel last week.

Prediction: Watford 0-2 Man Utd

Match Stats:

Ashley Young ended an 18-month goal drought with two goals against his old club as Manchester United beat Watford 4-2 at Vicarage Road.

Young scored his opener with a low shot from Jesse Lingard's pass before curling in a superb free-kick to double the lead.

Anthony Martial struck a third and Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes made a double save to deny Romelu Lukaku and Lingard before Richarlison headed on to the bar.

Watford produced two quickfire goals by Troy Deeney, from the penalty spot, and Abdoulaye Doucoure, from Andre Carillo's pass.

But a Lingard solo effort sealed the win which puts United five points behind leaders Manchester City.
