Chelsea vs Swansea

This home match will kick start a less forgiving list of fixtures until the new year for Chelsea. Only one of their next eight EPL matches is against a team currently in the top half and that's Southampton, who sit in tenth.

Chelsea have won seven and lost just one of their past 12 EPL matchups with Swansea, but it's the recent head-to-head that draws more concern for the Blues. They have claimed just five points in the most recent four meetups, winning just one of them.

And how's this for a stat? Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata has netted eight EPL goals, one more than the entire Swansea team!

Chelsea winger Victor Moses is back in contention, having been out since the middle of October.

David Luiz is out with a knee injury while Michy Batshuayi (ankle) and Kenedy (undisclosed) are working towards full fitness.
Swansea's Federico Fernandez has been ruled out of the Chelsea match and the one against Stoke after the death of his father. Mike van der Hoorn is set to deputise.

Kyle Bartley remains on the sidelines but on-loan striker Tammy Abraham is unavailable to face his parent club.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 Swansea

  • Possession: 61%-39%
  • Corner kicks: 15-1

A second-half header from Antonio Rudiger was enough for Chelsea to see off a determined Swansea City 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Rudiger came charging in at the back post to nod N'Golo Kante's deflected shot beyond Lukasz Fabianski on 55 minutes.

Chelsea, who left Eden Hazard on the bench, dominated the first half, but Alvaro Morata was denied twice by Fabianski, while Pedro and Marcos Alonso both went close.

Swansea rarely threatened and again had Fabianski to thank as he prevented the hosts from extending their lead.

Chelsea's fifth EPL victory in six matches keeps them third, while Swansea are 19th.
