Atletico Madrid vs Getafe

Get set for the year's first La Liga match as Getafe travel to the Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico warmed up for this clash with a 4-0 rout of Lleida in the Spanish Cup, while Getafe have not been in action since 20 December.

Diego Costa scored in the Lleida thrashing, not a bad way to celebrate his second spell with the capital club.

Atletico have yet to suffer a league defeat in their new home and will be favourites to clinch their fifth home win of the season. On the other hand, Getafe have taken maximum points just once in their eight away matches.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez is suspended for the game after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season, whilst Costa is expected to be fielded for his second home debut for the Mattress Makers.

Getafe's only absentee is influential midfielder Markel Bergara, who remains out with a knee problem picked up at the start of December.

Prediction: Atletico Madrid 2-0 Getafe

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa scored a goal before being sent off seconds later on his first start for Atletico Madrid since returning to the Spanish club.

Costa was booked in the 62nd minute of Saturday's La Liga game with Getafe before scoring six minutes later.

He then jumped into the crowd to celebrate and was subsequently shown a second yellow card and dismissed.

Atletico won the game 2-0 with Angel Correa scoring the opener.

It has been an eventful return to Atletico for Costa. The 29-year-old started his career at the club before leaving to join Chelsea in 2014.

He came off the bench to score in his first game since returning - a 4-0 Copa del Rey win against Lleida Esportiu on Wednesday - before picking up an injury moments later.
