Coventry vs Stoke

Mark Hughes says he does not need reassurance from his bosses despite seven defeats in their past 10 games. Defeat to Coventry will sound the death knell for sure. The Welshman has promised to name a strong team.

Only once before these sides have met in the FA Cup, a fifth round clash in February 1987. Coventry went on to lift the trophy that year.

Their recent FA Cup record against EPL opposition isn't that fantastic though, eliminated in each of their last five FA Cup matchups.

Stoke, meanwhile, have progressed to the fourth round in seven of their last eight campaigns, although they fell at this stage last season after losing 2-0 at home against Wolves.

Coventry could hand a debut to winger Jordan Maguire-Drew following his loan move from Brighton.

Striker Stuart Beavon is a doubt with a bruised foot, and defender Rod McDonald has a groin problem.

Stoke have defensive problems, with captain Ryan Shawcross (calf) and Bruno Martins Indi (groin) out and Erik Pieters likely to miss out with a hamstring injury.

Prediction: Coventry 0-1 Stoke

Coventry City claimed a shock FA Cup third-round victory over Premier League Stoke City as manager Mark Robins called for Sky Blues fans to return to the club.

Jordan Willis' towering header put the League Two side ahead, before the defender felled Ramadan Sobhi after the break and Charlie Adam levelled from the spot.

But right-back Jack Grimmer fired his side back ahead from outside the area with 20 minutes to play and Coventry held on for an historic victory.

After the game Stoke boss Mark Hughes was sacked following a run of six defeats in eight matches.
