Villarreal vs Deportivo

It's a big help that Villarreal enjoyed back-to-back 1-0 wins over Celta Vigo and Valencia before the Christmas break. It put an end to a short crisis of five winless games in all competitions.

Currently sixth in the league and just four points behind Real Madrid, the Yellow Submraine have a great chance at infiltrating the top-four zone.

Taking down Deportivo shouldn't be a huge problem as Villarreal possess a decent home record with 4 wins and 1 draw in seven matches. They are also averaging two goals per home game while conceding just six.

Deportivo, stuck in the drop zone, have lost three games on the trot, conceding nine goals and netting just two. Villarreal's Cedric Bakambu will be eager to head into double digits as he has nine right now.

But a move to the Chinese Super League is around the corner and he would certainly want to sign off with a flourish.

Prediction: Villarreal 1-0 Deportivo

Match Stats:

Villarreal were denied the chance to move up to fifth in La Liga after being held to a 1-1 draw by Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.

Enes Unal's 30th-minute strike appeared to be sending Villarreal above Sevilla in the table, but Florin Andone struck for Deportivo six minutes from time.
