Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Dortmund

Having signed off 2017 with two victories, Hertha got 2018 off to the wrong note with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at
Stuttgart last weekend. Hertha have a clean bill of health except Karim Rekik, who is bothered by a muscular trouble.

Dortmund, meanwhile, were left to rue missed chances in a goalless draw with Wolfsburg. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put his club future in more doubt after he was suspended by the club for that game.

Aubameyang has not been included in the squad to play Hertha, but winger Christian Pulisic is expected to return after shaking off a shin complaint.

Aubameyang's absence means that either Alexander Isak or Jadon Sancho, who made their full debuts last time out, could start up front.
Dortmund have not won without the Gabonese in attack this season. That run is currently at three games.

Hertha are currently on a three-match unbeaten home streak against Dortmund, taking seven of a possible nine points.

For that run to extend, they will need striker Vedad Ibisevic to revive his once fine scoring run against Dortmund. The Bosnian scored six goals in his first six Bundesliga games against the Yellow & Black, but hasn't found the net in his last games against them.

Prediction: Hertha Berlin 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

Christian Pulisic, back in Dortmund's starting XI after missing out against Wolfsburg through injury last weekend, dinked in a delightful cross which Shinji Kagawa headed over with the guest's and the game's first opening 13 minutes in. Mitchell Weiser and Marvin Plattenhardt both missed the target from distance before Valentino Lazaro's free-kick rippled only the side-netting as the hosts came closest to breaking the deadlock in an evenly-fought first half.

The enterprising Lazaro's cross was met by Davie Selke at the far post as he tucked in his fifth goal of the season within a minute of the restart. Dortmund rolled up their sleeves and Pulisic rifled in a shot which Thomas Kraft did well to turn behind. Salomon Kalou thought he had doubled Hertha's lead, but Ondrej Duda wanted to make sure the Ivory Coast forward's shot had enough legs to cross the line, albeit from an offside position. It proved to be a costly mistake as Dortmund levelled with the creative Jadon Sancho crossing for Kagawa to head in. Sancho almost snatched a win for the guests, but they had to settle for another point.
