Borussia Dortmund vs Freiburg

Dortmund enter this game on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin last Friday. It is not the best of results as they drop to sixth, a huge 13 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

There's mixed news at the Dortmund camp as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returns to the squad after missing the last two matches on disciplinary grounds.

The Gabonese is Dortmund's leading goalscorer this season with 13 Bundesliga goals. 13 is also the number of games BVB are unbeaten against Freiburg (12W, 1D). It is their longest current unbeaten run against any club.

Freiburg, though, are no pushovers. They are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga outings (4W, 3D), the longest of any side in the top flight. That's including a 2-1 win over RB Leipzig just last weekend.

9 of their last 11 goals have come from set-pieces, with each of their last three goals coming from the corner flag. That's something Dortmund might want to take note of.

First-choice goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow is doubtful for this clash after being substituted off against Leipzig last week with a thigh injury, so Rafal Gikiewicz is ready to deputise once more.

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Freiburg

Match Stats:

  • Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Freiburg
  • Shots: 9-3
  • Possession: 63%-37%
  • Corner kicks: 5-2

Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started for Borussia Dortmund for the first time since 16 December as they drew with Freiburg.

Dortmund have confirmed they are prepared to sell the striker, but only if "certain parameters are fully met".

Sources close to Dortmund have said Arsenal will need to pay well in excess of £50m to sign Aubameyang.

Jeremy Toljan scored a 93rd-minute equaliser for the hosts to help them climb to fifth in the Bundesliga.

Freiburg's Nils Petersen had netted either side of a Shinji Kagawa goal for Dortmund.
