Olympique Lyon were shocked 2-0 at home by Rennes last weekend. As a result, les Gones now find themselves four points away from a Champions League qualification spot, meaning that Lyon are facing a must win game. Bruno Genesio's side are currently on a three game losing streak in Ligue 1 ahead of the trip to Lille, they must put an end to that this weekend if they want any chance of playing Champions League football next season. Lyon have performed well away from home this year, winning eight out of eleven games away from the Groupama Stadium.

Leading goal scorer Nabil Fekir hasn't found the back of the net in Ligue 1 since the win versus Paris Saint Germain a month ago, look for him to put an end to that this weekend. Fekir and Spanish starlet Mariano Diaz have formed a formidable goal scoring duo up top for Lyon this season.

Sitting only one point above Angers and Troyes, Lille are still in the fight to avoid relegation. Les Dogues are not expected to win this match; however, they did challenge Lyon in their first matchup earlier this year, with Lyon getting by 1-0 for a hard fought win.

Lille and Lyon drew 2-2 in a spectacular and entertaining match.

Memphis Depay had a great chance in the 13th minute. Bertrand Traore played the Dutchman in down the right flank, but his long range shot was saved by goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Anwar El Ghazi responded for Lille. The Dutch youngster took free kick just outside the Lyon area, but sent it high.

Traore opened the scoring for the visitors in the 20th minute. Depay played a cross into the box, which goalkeeper Maignan came out to claim. Unfortunately for Lille, Maignan spilled the ball, and Traore found himself with the ball inside the 6-yard box with the ball and an empty net. The Burkina Faso international rifled home the ball to put his side ahead.

As if giving up a goal wasn't bad enough, Lille lost their playmaker El Ghazi to injury. The 22-year-old had to be substituted in the 29th minute.

To add further insult to injury, Lyon doubled their lead at the stroke of halftime. Traore got his brace after receiving a cross from Fernando Marcal and finishing with his left foot into the bottom right corner.

Lille was down but not out. After the restart, they searched for their first goal and were rewarded for their persistence in the 65th minute. Luiz Araujo, who came on for El Ghazi, provided an assist to Nicolas Pepe, who slotted the ball right past the left post.

Araujo sent the home fans into ecstasy in the 80th minute. Standing at the top of the area, he met a corner kick from Thiago Mendes with a left footed shot that he blasted into the bottom right corner. Wonderful finish by the young Brazilian.

This was an excellent result for the home side, and a terrible one for Lyon. Lille were not expected to take points from their matches against the big clubs; taking one here will surely go a long way in helping to avoid relegation. Lyon are in fourth place, out of the Champions League qualification places, and may see Marseille extend their lead on them with a win over Bordeaux.
