RB Leipzig saw their bad string of games continue with a shocking 2-1 loss at home to last-placed Cologne last weekend. This result dropped them to sixth in the table, not exactly where they pictured themselves at this stage of the season. Luckily for them, they still remain in the hunt for a top four place as they trail 4th placed Eintracht Frankfurt by a single point. If they wish to keep their hopes of qualifying for next year's Champions League they need to shake off their terrible run in 2018, where they have only won three of their seven Bundesliga games. Naby Keita will return for Leipzig after shaking off an injury, which will be a huge boost for the hosts. Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen are also expected to return to the starting 11 after being on the bench against Cologne.

Peter Stoger became the first coach in Borussia Dortmund history to go undefeated in his first nine matches (5 wins, 4 draws) after last week's 1-1 result versus Augsburg. A win versus Leipzig won't just mean he extends his streak to 10, it will also tighten his side's grasp on second place. Since returning to action, Marco Reus has proven how important he is to Borussia Dortmund by scoring two goals in three Bundesliga matches. His goal versus Augsburg was only enough to earn a draw, but it shows he still remains an integral part to Dortmund's success. He, Andre Schurrle, and Mario Gotze are gelling together wonderfully and provide great support for winter transfer window acquisition Michy Batshuayi up front.

This match will see plenty of goals as both sides boast superb offensive talent. Leipzig defeated Dortmund 3-2 when the two sides met in October at the Signal Iduna Park. While Dortmund would like to exact their revenge after that match, all signs point to the two sides sharing the spoils on Sunday.

In a game where both teams are fighting for Champions League spots with Leipzig 6th on the table and Dortmund fighting for the 2nd place against rivals Schalke, both teams were looking to get a positive result in this game and take all three points home.

The first goal of the game would be scored by Leipzig when Jean-Kevin Augustin got behind the Dortmund defense and was able to place Naby Keita's pass past Roman Burki in the 29th minute. However, their celebration was cut short just nine minutes later when Marco Reus was able to equalize with an easy tap in with a word class through ball from Mahoud Dahoud. Reus was able to dribble past the keeper and just tap it in in order to get his team level. This is Reus' third goal this season since coming back from an injury that had kept him off the pitch since the beginning of the season. The game would be evenly matched until the last few minutes when Leipzig had a few efforts to grab the winning goal. They were unable to convert on their chances due to good defending from Dortmund as well as Burki doing a great job in goal. In the end both teams went home with a point to show for their efforts.

In the battle for the Bundesliga, Dortmund have now fallen to third place, one point behind Schalke who were victorious earlier today. Leipzig remain in 6th place. Both teams need to finish strong in order to earn a spot in the Champions League next season.
