Second versus third clash early Sunday morning when Juventus visit the Stadio Olimpico to take on Lazio. This is the first of four matches in a very interesting Serie A fixture, where the top eight teams face off against each other. Match day 26 may very well have serious title implications.

Juventus saw off Atalanta 1-0 in midweek to advance to the Coppa Italia final 2-0 on aggregate. Lazio, on the otherhand, crashed out of the same competition, losing on penalty kicks to AC Milan. Juve have a shot at another domestic double and can even dream of winning the treble they have come agonizingly close to twice in the past three years. La Vecchia Signora has won all 13 of their matches in Serie A and Coppa Italia, keeping a clean sheet in 12 of those games. Maximiliano Allegri and his men will remember the defeat they suffered at the hands of Lazio at home earlier this year, and will look to exact their revenge this weekend.

Lazio haven't defeated Juventus in Rome in Serie A since December 2003, drawing three times and losing nine since then. Juve have won the past four meetings at the Stadio Olimpico without conceding a single goal.

Gonzalo Higuain seemed to be set for a long injury layoff after hurting his ankle in the Turin derby two weeks ago. However, he has been declared fit to return for this match, which will certainly be a boost to Juventus. Lazio is one of Higuain's favorite victims; he has 12 goals in 9 matches against them and will be longing to get on the score sheet in this one.

Prediction: Lazio 1-2 Juventus

In a battle between the number two and three in the table the game was set to be a close match from the start. Both teams known well for their defensive prowess came in to protect their goal and prevent the other side from scoring.

In the 9th minute Juventus had the first chance with a free kick from Pjanic who placed a well cross in the six yard box and it was Mandzukic who met the ball with his head but wasn't able to keep it down and sailed it over the cross bar. In the 19th minutes after a cleared cross by the Juventus defense, the ball found its way to Lulic who crossed it back into the box and met by Milinkovic-Savic who directed it downwards and towards goal, but Buffon was there to cover his goal and hold onto the ball and keep his team leveled. Most chances for both teams in the first half came from corners, but both teams were able to defend their line and clear the threats. Both teams went into the half scoreless.

In the second half Lazio came out strong with a good opportunity snuffed by a sliding Buffon who came off his line. Luis Alberto was able to place a well placed pass past Benatia for Immobile to run onto it but Buffon was there. The second half would be the same as the first half with both sides defenses stopping every attack. Just when both teams and the fans thought that they would be leaving with a draw, Dybala came in to save the day for Juventus and take the three points home. With 30 seconds remaining in stoppage time, Dybala is able to take a shot inside the box as he is falling in order to put it past Strakosha.

Lazio need to regroup and put this game past them as they welcome Dynamo Kyiv for an Europa League match on Thursday. As for Juventus this is a good result as they go to London to play against Tottenham at Wembley for a spot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
