A big one at the BayArena this coming weekend as Champions League chasing Bayer Leverkusen play host to a Borussia Moenchengladbach side who have European aspirations of their own.

No real injury concerns for the home side. Moenchengladbach haven't been so fortunate though, with key men Raffael and Oscar Wendt both looking likely to miss out.

Leverkusen have enjoyed mixed results at home this season, although the fact they have lost three of there past four in front of their own fans perhaps makes things look a little worse than they are. One of those losses came against the class of the league in Bayern Munich, whilst in their defeat to Schalke they were down to ten men from an early stage.

Moenchengladbach have enjoyed a so-so season to date, but are still in the race for a top six finish headed into the closing stages. They have however really struggled away from home in recent months. Losing five of their last six away from Borussia Park and scoring just twice in the process.

Bayer are the better of these two sides and look more able to field close to a full strength line-up here. Having found this opposition to their liking in the reverse fixture when hitting the Borussians for five, Heiko Herlich's side are fancied to get amongst the goals once again.

Denis Zakaria, Jannik Vestergaard and Christoph Kramer were booked for Borussio Moenechengladbach. No bookings for the home team.

A lively opening to this game saw both keepers forced into making a save inside the first six minutes. Once the match settled down though, Bayer began to assume control in front of their own fans. Borussia seemingly content to survive and wait for the occasional counter attack opportunity. That strategy wasn't working too badly for the visitors, but they didn't quite make it into the break on level terms.

The home side made the breakthrough in the 39th minute. Leon Bailey racing down the right hand side before clipping a cross to the far post. A clever header back across goal from Kevin Volland found Lucas Alario on hand to sweep home.

Following a tepid second half, Borussia did go for it in the last ten minutes, without really being able to muster anything clear cut.

Having needed to wait until nearly the end of the first half for their opener, the game ending second didn't come until second minute of stoppage time at the end of ninety minutes. Breaking down the left Alario clipped the ball back with his right foot to find Julian Brandt to bring the ball down and calmly side-foot home despite the close attentions of Jonas Hoffman and Jann Sommer. 2 - 0.

A big three points for Leverkusen propelling them into third place in the standings. With fourth placed Borussia Dortmund playing fifth placed Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow, they are guaranteed to be in one of the crucial top four Champions League spots at the end of Round 26.
