First Leg Score: Juventus 0 - 3 Real Madrid

This looked like being one of the most closely fought of the Champions League quarter finals, however Real Madrid blew that presumption out of the water with a devastating display in the away leg and are surely in cruise control in the second leg.

One encouraging sign for Juventus considering they need goals - and lots of them - is that Real look to be struggling at the centre-back position. Sergio Ramos is suspended whilst Nacho and Jesús Vallejo are injury doubts.

One major stumbling block in this pursuit of goals though is that the Italian champions will be without key attacking influence Paolo Dybala who was sent odd in the first leg. Having struggled to gain a stranglehold of the midfield in the first leg, the return of both Miralem Pjanic and Medhi Benatia to the engine room is a huge bonus for the visitors.

We expect Juventus to fare better here than in the first game, and despite being so far behind don't expect a gung-ho approach. The tactic will probably be to nick a goal before going for broke late on. For a side who only average 1.22 goals per game in this seasons Champions League though, its hard to see them finding the three required. This may be tight but Real should get through comfortably enough.

Prediction: Real Madrid 1 - 1 Juventus

A heart stopping night for supporters of both sides and a busy one for the referee. Michael Oliver issuing yellow cards to Daniel Carvajal, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid, and for Juventus…Miralem Pjanic, Mario Mandzukic, Stephan Lichsteiner, Alex Sandro, Douglas Costa and Mehdi Benatia were all booked, whilst Gianluigi Buffon was shown a straight red in what may well have been his final Champions League appearance.

Having had one miraculous comeback from an Italian side last night, we oh so nearly had another here as Juventus came so close to overturning a three goal deficit in the Bernabeu. What a game!

And what a start from the away side. Juventus breaking up play in midfield and Sammy Khedira being set free down the right hand side. Khedira's cross to the far post finding Mario Mandzukic racing in to nod his side in front on the night in just the second minute.

In the 37th minute Juventus really were back in this. It was a case of if it works once, then try it again. Again breaking down the right hand side, another deep cross to the far post, this time from Stephan Lichsteiner, and another Mandzukic header. 0-2 at the break.

In the 61st minute the Juventus fans were in dreamland. Keylor Navas failing to hold on to a Douglas Costa cross, Blaise Matuidi first to react and fire home. 0-3, comeback complete and still half an hour to play.

Real Madrid finally seemed to wake up now that they were 3-0 down, but the tie looked to be heading to extra time. Then in the 92nd minute…

Toni Kroos swings the ball into the box, Ronaldo heads on to Lucas Vazquez who is pushed in the back by Medhi Benatia. Down he goes, penalty kick. Buffon sent off for his protestations.

Having done very little in the game, this somewhat inevitably came down to Cristiano Ronaldo yet again. Close to 97 minutes on the clock by the time it all settled down. Ronaldo vs Wojciech Szczesny. Ronaldo top corner. 1-3. Real through 4-3 on aggregate.
