No doubt about the big one in Serie A this week as Match Day 32 saves the best until last. It's the Rome derby as Lazio take on Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Both these sides were in European action in midweek and could scarcely have experienced more contrasting fortunes. Whilst Roma pulled off the miracle of all miracles in overturning a three goal first leg deficit against the mighty Barcelona, Lazio collapsed miserably in a second half shambles to give up what at one stage was a three goal edge of their own against Salzburg. Any momentum going into this tie is undoubtedly with Roma.

Locked together on 60 points in third and fourth spot, this match also has a lot riding on it in terms of Champions League qualification as fifth placed Inter Milan sit just one point behind the pair.

Not too many injury concerns for either side here, with Roma's Rick Karsdrop the only confirmed absentee.

That really was a heroic display from Roma in midweek and it would be hard for them not to be riding the crest of a wave on the back of their progression to the Champions League semi-finals.

Lazio on the other hand looked crestfallen at the end of their Europa League exit, with their defences lapses a particular concern ahead of this. Take Roma for a narrow win.

As ever there was no love lost between these two sides. Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni taking the names of Roma's Juan Jesus and Kevin Strootman. Lazio meanwhile had Lucas Leiva and Luiz Felipe booked, whilst Stefan Daniel Radu was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 80th minute.

Comical defending in the seventh minute from Roma very nearly presented Lazio with the lead here. Not one, but two Roma defenders dancing over the ball to gift Marco Parolo with a chance around 12 yards from goal. Unfortunately he blazed over.

Roma came oh so close to breaking the deadlock in the 37th minute. A fine ball by Radja Naingolan putting Bruno Peres through on goal. His effort across goal beat the keeper but smacked against the far post. Goalless at the break.

Lazio's chief goal-getter Ciro Immobile was played in by a dinked ball over the top in the 65th minute but could only send the ball wide from a tough angle.

Roma had ten minutes to make their man advantage pay at the end of the match and they couldn't have come much closer.

Edin Dzeko's 91st minute header seeming destined for the back of the net only for Thomas Strakosha to intervene with a tremendous save.

Then less than a minute later. Edin Dzeko again with his head. Strakosha no chance this time but the crossbar came to the rescue. 0-0 final score.

Level on points before the game, level on points they remain. Roma stay third and Lazio fourth as the sides from the capital both move one point clear of fifth placed Inter Milan in the race for Champions League football.
