Yes you did read that right. Les Herbiers really are in the French Cup Final, where they will take on no less a side than runaway French League Champions Paris Saint Germain. This is really what cup football is all about as the minnows take on the giants for the trophy in what must be the ultimate David vs Goliath clash.

No shame if you hadn't heard of Les Herbiers before this season, they do after all hail from the third tier of French Football, and will  undoubtedly be having the biggest day in their history here in what looks to be a total mismatch on paper. But then no one would have predicted they would have gotten this far.

In truth the draw has been a little kind too Les Herbiers, with Ligue 2 sides Lens and Auxerre being the biggest scalps on their run to the final. The final itself however couldn't be any tougher.

PSG certainly seem to be taking the competition pretty seriously, averaging a whopping four goals per game. With the League title already in the bag, they surely won't let the opportunity of a League and Cup double slip against the side no one has heard of.

Along with everyone outside of Paris, I will be cheering Les Herbiers on here, but in all honesty,  this looks an impossible task.

Prediction: Les Herbiers 0 - 5 Paris Saint Germain

Somewhat predictably the Les Herbiers fairy tale was finally ended by the giants of the French game as PSG came out on top at the Stade de France to lift the Coupe de France Trophy for the fourth successive season. Having also claimed Ligue 1 and the Coupe de la Ligue this year, that's now three domestic trebles in the space of four years for the unstoppable PSG.

As expected the minnows were miles behind on just about every stat going, little Les Herbiers weren't however disgraced on the score line. There are certainly any number of Ligue 1 sides who would regard a 2-0 defeat to PSG as a pretty respectable result.

Les Herbiers did have the first shot of the game in just the second minute, with Sebastien Flochon seeing his effort blocked.

Three minutes later PSG nearly took the lead. Giovanni Lo Celso finding space on the edge of the area but seeing his effort rattle the outside of the post.

Two minutes after that, Kylian Mbappé beat the keeper with a guided volley from the right hand side of the area, but again found the woodwork in his way.

All PSG by this stage, with Angel Di Maria missing an easy header and Lo Celso again finding the outside of the post.

It was however third time lucky for Lo Celso in the 26th minute. The Argentine picking up the ball on the edge of the D and driving a powerful placed effort into the bottom left corner. 0-1 at half-time.

More of the same in the second half as Les Herbiers really struggled to get out of their own half. Matthieu Pichot had already saved well from Cavani and Mbappe had an effort chalked off by the time the second did arrive in the 74th minute.

Pichot bringing down Cavani in the area and the frontman stepping up to convert the spot kick into the bottom left corner. Final score 0-2.
