EPL SEASON PREVIEW - West Ham United

The Manager: Manuel Pellegrini
Proven wherever he has been, including when winning the Premier League title with Manchester City in 2013-14, the 64 year old brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the West Ham dressing room. Tactically astute and backed to the hilt by the board, he will be expected to deliver at the first time of asking. A top half finishing position would look to be a bare minimum requirement.

The Squad:
Having flirted with relegation for much of last season, the squad certainly needed an overhaul and it has received just that.
Lukasz Fabianski and Issa Diop look to be upgrades in the goalkeeping and centre back positions, but it is in midfield where the Hammers now look particularly strong.
If free signing Jack Wilshere can keep both his fitness and focus he may well prove a revelation in the centre of the park. Felipe Anderson meanwhile is a scintillating performer on his day, whilst Andriy Yarmolenko is another quality acquisition. This midfield looks to have the potential to be pretty special.
A striker is possibly still needed though, particularly with Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini set to miss the start of the season. Marko Arnautović has bags of talent, but has never been the most prolific.

Star Man: Felipe Anderson
As West Ham's record signing, there will be a certain amount of pressure on the Brazilian in his first season, however he looks to have all the attributes needed to cope. Quick, skilful, and with an eye for both an assist and a goal, Anderson is just the type of player West Ham fans have been pining for since the departure of Dmitri Payet.

Outlook:
This will likely be boom or bust for West Ham United but we are predicting boom. Whilst the Hammers have strengthened in just about every position, they have really focussed on the areas they needed to and can have no excuses for not improving upon their 13th placed position from last season. We think they will, and pretty comfortably too.

Premier League Prediction: 7th
