The Thomas Tuchel era begins in Paris this weekend as the German coach takes charge of PSG in a Ligue 1 fixture for the first time. The visitors to the defending Champions are last seasons 16th placed finishers, Caen, who also boast a new man in the hot seat as Fabien Mercadel takes charge.

Having sparkled at the World Cup Kylian Mbappé finally joins PSG on a permanent basis, signing for a whopping £121.50million. The other major arrival of the summer sees long serving Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon arrive on a free transfer as the 40 year old goes for one last hoorah.

Goals were in short supply for Caen last season, which was perhaps the single biggest reason for their struggles. As such it was crucial they compensated for the departure of top scorer, Ivan Santini. They've certainly given it a good go, bringing in not one, but four centre forwards, including Enzo Crivelli from Angers and Yacine Bammou from Nantes.

Layvin Kurzawa and Marco Verratti are definitely expected to miss out in this one for PSG, whilst Presnel Kimpembe, Mbappé and Edinson Cavani may be given additional time to recover from their World Cup exertions.

Caen must do without Baissama Sankoh and Jonathan Gradit.

Pre season has been a little mixed for PSG, as Tuchel attempts to impose his philosophy on the side. They should still have enough in hand to come out on top in this one though.

Just the one yellow card issued in this one with PSG's Timothy Weah having his name taken late on by referee Benoit Bastien.

A comfortable home win would likely have been the result most would have expected here, and despite the absence of Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé, PSG had more than enough in the locker to pull it off, translating their dominance in possession and shots into an easy win.

It was the third member of the PSG triple threat who got PSG's scoring underway for the season after just ten minutes. A terrible clearance by Caen keeper Brice Samba going straight to PSG's Christopher Nkunku who then wasted no time in in playing Neymar in on goal. First time finish into the bottom left hand corner from the Brazilian.

Angel Di Maria looked particularly sharp for PSG tonight and it was he who created the second goal of the game after 35 minutes. Bamboozling the Caen defence and drawing the keeper towards the right-hand side of the area before laying the ball across goal to find Adrien Rabiot for the tap in.

Caen did fleetingly have their moments in the first half. Gianluigi Buffon being forced into saves from Jessy Deminguet and more impressively from his own defender Thiago Silva. 2-0 at the break though.

Buffon was beaten at the start of the second half, but luckily his post came to the rescue to keep out an excellent Stef Peeters free kick.

PSG also went close through an Angel Di Maria header and  Timothy Weah effort which struck the inside of the post, but it wasn't until the 89th minute that the third goal came. And it was through another Samba shambles. The keeper this time dithering on the ball almost on his goal line and allowing Weah to tackle the ball into the net.

3-0 final score.
