SERIE A SEASON PREVIEW - Inter Milan

The Manager: Luciano Spalletti
Having cut his managerial teeth during a successful period in charge of Empoli - leading the minnows from Serie C to Serie A - Spalletti has now managed almost continuously in the top tier of Italian football since 1998, barring a five year sojourn to Zenit St. Petersburg. A dual winner of the Serie A Coach of the Year award, the 59 year old brings vast experience to the role. His first season in charge at Inter can be labelled a success having sealed Champions League qualification in dramatic fashion on the last day of the season.

The Squad:
The Inter squad has had quite an overhaul over the summer, with no fewer than 12 players moving on to pastures new. Geoffrey Kondogbia probably being the highest profile of these following his permanent switch to Valencia.
In comes Radja Nainggolan from Roma to add steel and energy to the midfield; highly promising Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez; full backs Federico Dimarco and Sime Vrsaljko and centre back Stefan de Vrij who arrives on a free from Lazio.
Plenty of quality has been retained in the midfield and attacking positions with Ivan Perišić, Marcelo Brozović and Mauro Icardi all sticking around.

Star Man: Mauro Icardi
Now firmly established as one of Serie A's premier marksmen, the Inter Milan captain leads by example from the front. 29 goals in 34 games last season was a seriously impressive - and career best - return for the prolific Argentinian. His all round game also looks to be continuing to improve as he approaches his prime years and matures into the league. He will have to go some to top last season, but he may just be up to it.

Outlook:
Juventus look head and shoulders above the competition once again when it comes to winning the Serie A title. Napoli and Roma both look a little weaker this term to our eyes though and we wouldn't be surprised to see Inter steal second spot.

Serie A Prediction: 2nd
