One of the best games in La Liga this weekend comes at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, as last seasons fifth placed side Villareal travel to take on Sevilla.

Plenty of goals in the two games between the sides last season, with this game ending in a 2-2 draw and Sevilla winning 3-2 in Villareal. There was also no shortage of ill-discipline with three red cards across the two fixtures.

Not too many injury concerns for the home side. Villareal are without Bruno Soriano and Javi Fuego through injury, in the addition to the suspended Nahuel Leiva.

Sevilla have started this season in good style, winning twice in the Europa League qualification, performing with credit against Barcelona in the Super Cup Final and hammering Rayo Vallecano away from home in their opening La Liga game.

Villareal by contrast began their season in disappointing fashion when going down 2-1 at home to Real Sociedad.

Villareal should be the fresher of the two sides considering Sevilla had another game in midweek. That isn't necessarily such a big positive at this early stage of the season though and the home side do seem to have played themselves into a decent groove. If Villareal post anything like the error strewn display they did when losing last week they will be in trouble and we fancy Sevilla to put them to the sword.

No sending's off in this fixture for a change, but there were a few bookings. Gabriel Mercado, Pablo Sarabia and Simon Kjaer seeing yellow for Sevilla. Mario Gaspar and Jaume Costa the Villarreal players to have their names taken by referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco.

Nothing to split the teams at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium as these two sides largely cancelled each other out. If there was to be a winner there is a case to be made that it was Villarreal who played the better football on the night, but all in all this was probably a fair result.

In a tight and closely fought opening period the majority of half chances there were were coming from set pieces. Nothing really clear cut though other than a chance Franco Vazquez made for himself in the 18th minute, turning well into space just inside the area only to fire wide of goal.

Karl Toko Ekambi went closest at the other end when forcing Tomas Vaclik into a smart stop from a tight angle.

Whilst defences did ultimately come out on top, this was far from being a bore draw. Indeed it was pretty much end to end stuff in the second half with Villarreal playing the better football overall after the break. Simon Kjaer was a rock for Sevilla tonight though getting in any number of telling tackles and last-ditch blocks to keep his sides clean sheet intact.

At the other end Sergio Asenjo wasn't called into action to make too many meaningful saves with Sevilla largely being restricted to efforts from range.

No way through for either side in the end though as this one ended in a stalemate.
