One of the most interesting games in La Liga comes at the Benito Villamarín as Real Betis play host to Athletic Bilbao.

Real Betis were one of the most entertaining sides in the league to watch last. That hasn't really proven to be the case so far this season though, with three of their past four games ending in a goalless draw, including a stalemate at Olympiakos in the Europa League in midweek.

The main objective for Bilbao this season was to wipe away the memory of last season's desperately poor campaign as soon as possible. They've made an encouraging start towards doing just that. Unbeaten in their three La Liga games to date, a draw with Real Madrid in the last round of fixtures won't have done their confidence any harm at all.

Despite a poor season overall, Bilbao actually did the double over Betis last year, winning 2-0 both home and away.

Just the one injury for each side here. Big summer signing William Carvalho missing out for the home side and Íñigo Lekue on the injured list for Bilbao.

Real Betis's lack of goals would be a concern ahead of this one, particularly against a Bilbao side who look fairly solid at the back. The Betis defence has also looked reliable so far though and this has the look of a tight encounter. We fancy an increasingly confident Bilbao side may just nick it though.

A busy night for referee Xavier Estrada Fernandez. Sergio Canales and Sidnei were booked for the home side. Bilbao meanwhile had Markel Susaeta sent off for two bookable offences and Yeray, Benat Etxebarria, Yuri Berchiche, Inigo Martinez and Unai Simon all shown a single yellow.

All that and we also had four goals at the Benito Villamarin.

The fopener came after just seven minutes and it was Bilbao who netted first. Pau Lopez initially saving well from a Raul Garcia header, but when Garcia nodded the rebound back into the six yard box, Inaki Williams was on hand to sweep home from just a few yards.

Garcia himself grabbed the second in the 18th minute. Picking the ball up around 22 yards from goal with time and space, he rifled a shot from right to left to find the bottom left corner. So far so good for the visitors.

The sending off of Susaeta in the 45th minute though changed the pattern of this game.

It took Betis just six second half minutes to claw a goal back. Marc Bartra allowed to advance from midfield towards the Bilbao goal before firing a thunderbolt into the bottom left corner from around 25 yards.

Then in the 68th minute Cristian Tello received the ball on the left flank and teed up Sergio Canales in the left side of the area. One touch to control and one to finish into the bottom right corner from Canales.

Antonio Sanabria had a good chance to win it for the hosts when well placed to meet a cross from the right. He could only plant his header wide though.

Bilbao twelfth and Betis thirteenth after this result.
