This week's slate of fixtures in the Champions' League is once again jam packed with quality, and this game at the Stadio San Paolo promises to be a cracker as Napoli play host to Liverpool.

Napoli were a little disappointing on the opening night in this competition when failing to find a way through the defences of Group minnows FK Crvena Zvezda. Liverpool of course took part in the match of the round when ultimately coming out on top 3-2 against PSG at home.

Liverpool arrive having suffered their first real set backs of the season. First being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea, before dropping their first Premier League points of the season when needing a late Daniel Sturridge screamer to salvage a point against the same opposition at Stamford Bridge.

Napoli were no match for Juventus in Turin at the weekend but had previously looked good in putting three goals past both Torino and Parma.

These two sides met in a preseason friendly with Liverpool running out 5-0 winners. The two previous competitive matches between the sides have resulted in a goalless draw here and another win for Liverpool at Anfield.

Amin Younes and Vlad Chiriches are the absentees for Napoli. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain being the only confirmed player missingfor Liverpool.

For us Napoli look a slightly worse side than last season, whilst Liverpool - mainly due to improvements at the back - look slightly better than the side who so nearly went all the way in this competition. It's an away win for us.

Prediction: Napoli 1 - 3 Liverpool

One booking apiece in Naples. Kalidou Koulibaly of the home side and James Milner or Liverpool the men to have their names taken by referee Viiktor Kassai.

This was impressive from Napoli and must go down as the best performance yet in the Carlo Ancelotti era. It takes some doing to prevent this Liverpool side from having a single shot on target over the course of ninety minutes, but that's exactly what the home side achieved here. They did leave it very late in the end, but there's no doubt Napoli deserved it on the night.

Liverpool were uncharacteristically giving the ball away at times, Lorenzo Insigne very nearly taking advantage of one such lapse when advancing forward and firing narrowly wide from the edge of the area.

Liverpool then suffered a blow in the 19th minute when Naby Keita was forced off with what looked to be a back injury. He must now be a doubt for Sunday's big showdown with Manchester City.

No real clear-cut chances for either side in the opening period as we headed into the interval locked at 0-0.

Napoli were continuing to play the better football after the break. Substitute Dries Mertens very nearly opening the scoring when getting on the end of a cross from the left only to see his volleyed effort come back off the crossbar.

The home side won it right at the death. Nice interplay down the right-hand side ending with Jose Maria Callejon playing a low ball across the six yard box. Insigne the man sliding in to supply the finish.

Excellent win for Napoli following their disappointing draw on the opening night. Liverpool may need to avenge this result at Anfield if they are to make it through to the knockout stages.
