Tenth plays eighth this week in La Liga as Real's Betis and Valladolid lock horns at the Benito Villamarin.

These two have very similar record so far this season. Both have racked up 12 points from their opening eight games; both have conceded only six times and both are averaging under a goal a game in the scoring department.

The last time these two met in competitive action came back in 2015 when both sides were in the Segunda División. Real Betis came out top 4-0 that day. More recently the sides met in a 2017 friendly which finished up in a 1-1 draw.

The home side are expected to be at full strength for this one. Valladolid must do without the injured duo of Duje Cop and Keko.

Real Betis have lost just one of their past ten at home in La Liga.

Real Vallodolid are unbeaten on the road so far this season, picking up draws at Girona, Getafe and Celta Vigo and winning at Villareal last time out, impressively keeping a clean sheet in three of those games.

This certainly doesn't have the look of a seven-goal thriller given the defensive records of the sides. Betis will be fancied playing in front of their own fans, but don't score enough goals to be confident they will pick up the points. We will take a score draw in this one.

Prediction: Real Betis 1 - 1 Real Valladolid

Referee Javier Alberola Rojas took the names of four in this one, all for the away side. Antonito, Kiko Olivas, Nacho Martinez and Jordi Masip being the men to see yellow.

Given the recent defensive records of these two dies, it always seemed likely that one goal may well be enough to claim the points in this one. The question was who would get it? Despite Real Betis bossing possession and winning the shot count , the answer to that question in the end was Real Valladolid as the visitors posted a text book smash and grab away performance.

The only goal of the game came in the 35th minute as Valladolid scored with what was just about their first effort of any description on goal. Clever dinked ball over the top from Toni Villa to play in Antonito in the right hand side of the area. Antonito striking at goal first time as the ball dropped out of the air and seeming to catch goalkeeper Pau Lopez wrongfooted as his shot found the bottom left.

Both sides looked to have legitimate claims for a penalty in the second half but in each instance their appeals were falling on deaf ears as the referee waved play on.

Valladolid in the end showed all of their defensive prowess to see this one out and pick up the points.

Big win for Real Valladolid who now move up to sixth spot in the standings. Real Betis slip to eleventh, with this lack of goals in the side at present - that's just five in nine La Liga games now - seriously threatening to hold them back over the course of the season.
