One of the highlights on Match Day 15 in the Bundesliga comes at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena as seventh placed Hoffenheim play host to second placed Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Mönchengladbach came out on top 3-1 in this fixture last season, with the sides playing out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the reverse game.

Håvard Nordtveit and Lukas Rupp miss out for the home side in this one. Mönchengladbach must do without Jonas Hoffman, Matthias Ginter, Mamadou Doucouré and Julio Villalba.

Hoffenheim may be a little disappointed to have drawn each of their last three in the Bundesliga. That run does nevertheless see them unbeaten in their past seven in the division though.  They are also pretty solid in general at home, winning eight of their past twelve.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have won six of their past eight in the league but have nevertheless fallen seven points behind a red-hot Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table. They know they can't afford many more slip ups considering the form the league leaders have been in this season. Mönchengladbach are a million miles from being reliable on the road though having won only two of their past twelve.

Both teams have scored in each of Hoffenheim's past eight games in all competitions.

This is a big game for Hoffenheim. Only three points off the Champions League positions, they will be looking at picking up maximum points from most of their remaining home games. To us they are playing marginally the better football of these two at present and we fancy they may get the job done.

Prediction: Hoffenheim 2 - 1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Two bookings in this one, both for the away side, with referee Benjamin Cortus taking the names of Florian Neuhaus and Mickael Cuisance.

This was an excellent performance form the home side against their higher ranked opponents. All that was missing on the night was that final killer pass or finish. Better than Mönchengladbach in all areas, and miles clear on the stats, they can count themselves a little unfortunate to have only come away with a point.

Hoffenheim were the better side from the word go here, although Borussia did at least seem to be in the game in the first half.

It was a different story after the break though as the home side really began to turn the screw and crank up the pressure, with what seemed like wave after wave of attacks in the second period. The total shot count in the second 45 minutes read 15 to Hoffenheim compared to just two for Borussia.

It simply wouldn't go in for the hosts though, admittedly that was partly due to some less than ruthless finishing at times, but in most games at least one of these chances would have gone in. It was Joelinton who came closest in the 72nd minute when rattling the left hand upright with a right-footed strike from inside the area. The visitors hung on for a point in the end though.

Borussia Mönchengladbach stay second with this point. They are now nine adrift of leaders Borussia Dortmund though, and only ahead of a surging Bayern Munich on goal difference. Decent point for Hoffenheim, even though they undoubtedly deserved more on the night. They still move up a spot and into sixth and the Europa League positions.
