We have a big one at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Match Day 21 in Ligue 1 as third placed Saint-Etienne welcome fourth placed Lyon to town. Only two points separate the sides in the race for the third and final Champion's League position so there's plenty on the line in this one.

Lyon came out on top in the first game between the sides this season when registering a narrow 1-0 success at home. Things weren't so close in this game last season though with Lyon running riot in a 5-0 triumph.

Mathieu Debuchy looks like being the sole absentee for the home side. Lyon will be without Rafael and Amine Gouiri.

Saint-Etienne have been very consistent so far this season in losing only three of their opening twenty fixtures. They appear in a particularly rich vein of form at present though and will be seeking a fourth win on the spin here. Their home form has been very impressive this season with eight wins and two draws from their ten games to date.

Four draws in their past six fixtures have resulted in Lyon slipping a little having looked in pole position for one of the Champion's League spots. There's no real cause to panic though as much like Saint-Etienne they have been one of the more consistent sides in the division and remain tough to beat. They have lost just two of nine away from home this season and have scored two or more goals in six of these games.

This looks like being an entertaining encounter but in terms of picking a winner we can't split them. Draw.

Kevin Monnet-Paquet and Loic Perrin were booked for the home side in this one with referee Benoit Bastien also taking the names of Marcelo and Kenny Tete of Lyon.

A thoroughly entertaining encounter at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, with both sides racking up enough efforts on target to win on a normal day. In the end though it was the visitors who picked up a big three points on the road thanks to a late, late winner.

Lyon went close early through a 30-yard lob from Memphis Depay which Stephane Ruffier only just got enough on to tip it over the crossbar.

The home side then took the lead in the 21st minute. Remy Cabella playing in Gabriel Silva down the left-hand side; Silva standing up a cross into the centre for Romain Hamouma to head uncontested back across goal and in to the left from six or seven yards. 1-0 at the break.

Lyon had Anthony Lopes to thank for the fact that they didn't fall further behind; the keeper producing a stunning triple save towards the start of the second half.

The visitors were then back on level terms in the 65th minute. The referee spotting a handball in the area from Loic Perrin and pointing to the spot. Nabil Fekir stepping up to finish high to the right-hand side.

And then in the fifth minute of stoppage time Lyon stole it. Only seconds earlier Moussa Dembele had missed a much easier header, but he made no mistake this time, getting on the end of a Leo Dubois cross from the right to plant a header into the left-hand side from around eight yards. 1-2 final score.

Huge win for Lyon this just as the momentum in the race for the top three looked to be slipping away from them. They move back up above Saint-Étienne and into third spot. Saint Étienne drop down to fourth, one point behind Lyon.
