Just about the pick of the Match Day 23 fixtures in Serie A comes at the Stadio Artemio Franchi as ninth placed Fiorentina play host to second placed Napoli.

Napoli edged the reverse of this fixture when coming out narrowly on top with a 1-0 win in Naples earlier in the season. Fiorentina bossed this fixture last season though in a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Fiorentina are badly hit by suspensions here with both key man Nicola Milenkovic and top scorer Marco Benassi out for this one. Napoli will be without Vlad Chiriches and Marek Hamsik.

Fiorentina are the undoubted draw specialists in Serie A at present, with a staggering nine of their past 14 fixtures having finished up all square. They are going to need to start turning some of those draws into wins if they are to progress up the table, but facing what is comfortably the second best side in the division, they may well be pretty happy should they gain a point in this one. They have lost only two of ten at home so far this season.

Napoli have been excellent this season and head here with just the one Serie A defeat in their past 15. Champions League football is all but assured, and whilst they are nine points back on Juventus, they may not have given up hope of the title just yet. They will likely need to be near perfect from here on in though. They have won six of ten on the road, but will be looking to improve on their two most recent away results which saw them lose to Inter and draw with Milan, failing to score in either game.

Napoli would still be favourites against a full-strength Fiorentina so can be expected to come out on top with the home side missing two of their star men.

Bryan Dabo and Jordan Veretout were booked for the home side, with referee Gianpaolo Calvarese also taking the names of Jose Callejon, Piotr Zielinski, Faouzi Ghoulam and Nikola Maksimovic of Napoli.

As far as goalless draws go, this was one of the more entertaining ones you may see, with both sides showing plenty of attacking intent. No way through for either team on the day, and with little to split them on the stats, a draw was just about a fair result here.

Napoli started the brighter of the two sides with Lorenzo Insigne going close twice in the first eleven minutes. Firstly when he really ought to have scored following in a rebound, and secondly when forcing a decent stop from Alban Lafont with a smart volleyed effort.

Jose Callejon then fired an excellent chance over for Napoli before the home side began to grow into the game. Jordan Veretout smashing a volley goalward only to be denied by an excellent save from Alex Meret.

The best chance of the opening period though fell to Dries Mertens who looked to have a simple task when presented with the ball six yards from goal but could only hit the keeper. 0-0 at the break.

Napoli probably had the better of the chances after the break. Piotr Zielinski bringing an excellent one-handed reflex stop out of Lafont.

Federico Chiesa was proving to be Fiorentina's most dangerous player when marauding down the right. Despite a number of promising balls into the area though, the home side were unable to find a way through either. 0-0 final score.

This must rate as a decent point and performance from Fiorentina. They nevertheless drop down a spot to tenth though. Napoli stay clear second but are now fully 11 points behind Juventus with fifteen games to play.
