Having looked to have been back on track the wheels have come off just a little for Real Madrid, dumped out of the cup and beaten in the league by Barcelona they then capitulated in spectacular style at home to Ajax to crash out of the Champion's League in midweek. That exit from the competition they covet above all others seems set to do for Santiago Solari in the long run, but in the mean time they need to refocus on at least securing a top four position this season. Next up it's this trip to lowly Real Valladolid.

Real Madrid won the reverse of this fixture 2-0 at the Bernabéu earlier in the season but were held to a 1-1 draw in this game last season.

Toni Villa, Borja Fernández, Stiven Plaza and Luismi are all out for the home side. Real Madrid must do without the injured trio of Daniel Carvajal, Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Vásquez in addition to skipper Sergio Ramos who is suspended.

Valadollid are in a pretty desperate run of form with just two wins in their past 17 in the league. They have won just three of twelve at home this season, failing to score in half of those fixtures.

Real have actually been going ok in La Liga with nine wins in their past thirteen taking them up to third in the table. They are unbeaten in their last six away, scoring two or more in five of those games.

Madrid do look vulnerable at the back without Ramos but surely boast too much firepower for Valadollid if able to shake off that midweek disappointment in time.

Prediction: Real Valladolid 1 - 3 Real Madrid
