They may still have thirteen games left to play, but Caen are nevertheless beginning to run out of time as they bid to stave off relegation. Currently occupying the relegation playoff position, they are keeping themselves out of the bottom two only by virtue of goal difference. Next up for Caen it's a trip to tenth placed Rennes who themselves are going to need to get a move on if they are to have anything to show for a season which has shown definite promise at times.

Rennes picked up a 2-1 in the reverse of this fixture with goals from Adrien Hanou and Ismaïla Sarr. Caen did win 1-0 in this game last season though.

Benjamin André is suspended for the home side who must also do without the injured Abdoulaye Diallo, Jordan Siebatcheu and Ludovic Baal. Romain Genevois is out injured for Caen whilst Frederic Guilbert is suspended.

Rennes are on a good run at present in front of their own fans, winning four and drawing two of their last six here and keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Caen have won only once in 13 outings on their travels, but on the plus side have managed to pick up a point in five of their last seven on the road. They have kept only two clean sheets away from home.

Rennes aren't always the most consistent but can be expected to find enough in the attacking third to prevail.

Prediction: Rennes 2 - 0 Caen
