This tie looked to be at least a little in the balance in the first leg as Schalke took the fight to Manchester City. That late winner from Raheem Sterling has tilted matters firmly in the English sides favour though and it would be a major surprise should they not complete the job back in front of their own fans.

Nicolás Otamendi and Fernandinho are suspended for City whilst Claudio Bravo remains on the side-lines through injury. Daniel Caligiuri and Alessandro Schöpf are the Schalke absentees.

Manchester City are on a phenomenal run at present having now won 17 of their past 18 fixtures in all competitions. The goals have dried up ever so slightly in recent games though with Pep Guardiola's men averaging only just over a goal a game across their last five.

If City are to return to their high-scoring ways, they may well do so here as, following something of a resurgence, Schake seem to have fallen apart again of late. They have now lost six of their last eight in all competitions and, concerningly ahead of this game, have conceded three or more goals in each of their last four.

This look something of a mismatch. Schalke were able to make a game of it at home but we expect them to be put to the sword here.

Prediction: Manchester City 5 - 0 Schalke
