Two sides looking to hang on to something in the closing stages of the season lock horns at the Commerzbank-Arena on Match Day 29 in the Bundesliga as Eintracht Frankfurt play host to Augsburg.

For the hosts it is Champion's League football which is the aim. Currently fourth and one point ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach, and with this game in hand, they have their destiny in their own hands, and will view this as a game they expect to be winning.

Augsburg meanwhile are looking to cling on to safety. Four points clear of third bottom Stuttgart, they are favourites to stay up but would ideally like at least one win from their remaining six fixtures in order to be able to breathe a little easier.

Eintracht came out on top in the reverse of this fixture when coming away from Augsburg with a 3-1 win. It was Augsburg who ran out 2-1 winners in the game here last season though.

Marco Russ, Taleb Tawatha, Marc Stendera and Timothy Chandler all miss out for the home side. Fabian Giefer, Felix Götze and Raphael Framberger are out for Augsburg.

Eintracht are one of the form sides in the division at present and head into this game unbeaten in 11 Bundesliga fixtures. They have lost only three of 14 at home overall this season, scoring two or more in half of those games.

Augsburg have won only two of 14 on the road, and none of their past nine, failing to score in four of their last five.

Eintracht have the better side on paper, are motivated and in good form and can see off Augsburg.

Ante Rebic was booked for the home side who also had Gelson Fernandes dismissed for a second yellow in the 47th minute. Michael Gregoritsch was the only Augsburg player to have his name taken by referee Bastian Dankert.

It all started so well for the home side, with Eintracht taking the lead in the fourteenth minute. Filip Kostic swinging a cross into the area from around twenty-yards out to the left-hand side, and Goncalo Paciencia leaping to bullet a header into the top left corner from just to the left of the penalty spot.

Augsburg drew level in the 31st minute. Michael Gregoritsch shaping to shoot around twenty-five yards from goal but instead slipping the ball to Marco Richter just inside the area. Nice control and turn from Richter to create space to the right of the penalty spot and a nice finish into the bottom left.

Then right on the stroke of half-time the visitors took the lead. Richter found in space to the left-hand side this time and rasping a fine drive into the bottom right from just outside the left corner of the eighteen-yard box. 1-2 at the break.

Augsburg had a man advantage for much of the second half and made sure of the points with six minutes to play. Nice run from Richter on the left and into the area with the keeper racing out to meet him. Richter fed the ball back to Daniel Baier outside the box who in turn played the ball to Gregoritsch who finished really well into the top left from eighteen yards out to the right. 1-3 final score.

Bit of a shock result this one, with Eintracht missing what looked to be a good opportunity to cement their Champion's League credentials. They do stay in fourth spot but are now only a solitary point ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach in fifth. Huge result for Augsburg though who move seven points clear of the relegation zone and are big favourites to stay up now.
