With Marseille beating Nimes earlier on Match Day 32 in Ligue 1 Saint-Étienne now find themselves bumped down into fifth position once again. Only a point behind Marseille though and with a better goal difference, they will move back up into the Europa League qualifying spot should they avoid defeat at home against 13th place Bordeaux.

Bordeaux meanwhile are one of those sides set to see the season play out in midtable obscurity. With no chance of Europe and miles clear of relegation, motivation perhaps won't come so easy as it did earlier in the campaign.

Bordeaux have actually held the edge in this fixture, winning each of the past four meetings between the sides, including a 3-2 win in the reverse game and a 3-1 success in the match here last season.

Valentin Vada is ineligible to play for the hosts due to being on loan from Bordeaux. Kévin Monnet-Paquet, Yannis Salibur and Gabriel Silva miss out through injury. Bordeaux will be without the suspended trio of Vukasin Jovanovic, Nicolas de Preville and Pablo, in addition to the injured Andreas Cornelius.

Having been one of the most formidable home sides in the league, Saint-Étienne have now lost three of their past five here. It should be noted however that those three losses have come against the current top three sides in the division and all were only one goal defeats. They have conceded more than once in only two of their 15 home fixtures.

Bordeaux have won only two of 15 away from home this season, failing to score in five of their past six on the road.

Saint-Étienne are the better side, have more to play for and are fancied to break their recent hoodoo against these opponents.

Prediction: Saint-Étienne 3 - 0 Bordeaux
