It's seventh plays fourth on Match Day 33 in Ligue 1 as Reims play host to Saint-Étienne. Saint-Étienne currently hold the Europa League qualifying position, but with only five points between the sides heading into the game, Reims could haul themselves right back into the mix with a win in this one.

Saint-Étienne picked up the points with a 2-0 win in the reverse of this fixture. The most recent game between the sides here in Reims came back in 2016 and resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Ghislain Konan looks like being the only injury absentee for the home side. Saint- Étienne will be without Kévin Monnet-Paquet, Gabriel Silva and Yannis Salibur.

Reims have enjoyed an excellent campaign back in the top flight and have proved particularly tough to beat at home - losing only two of 16 to date. Their success has been built on one of the best defences in the division. A fact illustrated by the fact they have conceded more than once in only two of those 16 home games. They have scored two or more in five of their last eight here.

Saint- Étienne have won only four of 16 on the road, scoring more than once only four times.

Saint- Étienne do have the more talented squad but don't consistently open teams up on the road and may just come out on the wrong end of a narrow verdict in this one.

Three bookings in this one, all for the home side, with referee Amaury Delerue taking the names of Thomas Foket, Xavier Chavalerin and Mathieu Cafaro.

One of the better performances on the season from Saint-Étienne on the road. Reims aren't really a side built to come from behind and in truth the visitors saw this out pretty comfortably once taking a fairly early lead.

It must be said though that Reims were architects of their own demise here with a couple of uncharacteristic errors at the back.

The opener came in the 24th minute. A terrible clearance from Reims keeper Edouard Mendy straight to the feet of Wahbi Khazri. Khazri firing on goal from just inside the area to the right. Mendy made the save but only palmed it out to the waiting Remy Cabella who slotted home from seven yards. 0-1 at the break.

Reims did attempt to get back into this, and did create one or two decent chances only to be let down by rash finishing. The closest they came was when Loic Perrin did really well defending a cross but still saw his header strike his own crossbar.

The killer second goal arrived six minutes into the second half and it was a scrappy affair. A low cross making its way to Wahbi Khazri around seven yards out to the right. His effort was badly scuffed and going wide but struck Bjorn Engels and in it went for the own goal.

This was a pretty impressive result from Saint-Étienne, and an important one too. They stay two points clear of Marseille in the pursuit of Europa League football, and still only three points adrift of third placed Lyon, won't have given up on the Champion's League just yet.
