It's been quite a season for Liverpool, but despite all of those wins and excellent performances, it is now looking increasingly likely that they will end the campaign empty handed. Manchester City look to have at least one hand on the Premier League title, and barring an almighty comeback, the Reds will be making their final Champion's League appearance of the season here.

Jurgen Klopp's men did perform with credit in the first leg and must count themselves pretty unlucky to be trailing by three goals. That's the state of play though, and as such an Anfield miracle is required in the second leg.

Any Liverpool fans searching for reasons for optimism may want to take a look back at the manner in which Barcelona made their exit from the competition last season. 4-1 winners over Roma at the Camp Nou in the first leg, they found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 reverse in the second leg to go out on away goals. A big ask for the Reds then, but not impossible.

Liverpool certainly aren't helped on the injury front - particularly as they are in need of goals - with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita all set to miss out. Ousmane Dembele and Rafinha are out for Barcelona.

Liverpool head into the game on the back of a dramatic win over Newcastle at the weekend. Barcelona lost at Celta Vigo, but did make eleven changes with the La Liga title already in the bag.

Liverpool looked pretty leggy against Newcastle and we suspect their incredible efforts this season may just be catching up with them now. A well-rested Barca can coast through this.

Prediction: Liverpool 1 - 2 Barcelona
