Probably the most eye-catching of the Match Day 35 fixtures in Ligue 1 comes in the final game of the weekend as two of the traditional big guns of French football lock horns at the Stade Vélodrome.

For Marseille this has been a most disappointing season with the side continually struggling to find any kind of consistency. Good one game and abject the next, that inconsistency has come at a price and they now seem highly unlikely to qualify for any of next season's European competitions. Realistically they need to win each of their final three games to stand any chance at all - and even then, they would need significant help.

Lyon meanwhile are locked in a battle with a surging Saint-Étienne for the third Champions League spot. A point clear of Saint-Étienne and with this game hand, they do maintain control of their own destiny, but defeat here would leave things looking awfully tight.

No confirmed absentees for Marseille at present although Florian Thauvin and Bouna Sarr do face late fitness tests. Amine Gouiri, Rafael and Marçal miss out for Lyon.

Disappointing overall, Marseille have remained relatively solid at home with only three defeats in 17 - two of which came against the top two sides of PSG and Lille. They have scored two or more in 12 of 17.

Lyon will likely be a little disappointed to have won only seven of seventeen away from home. They have a little concerningly conceded two in four of their last five on the road.

There's never too much love lost between these two sides. Marseille will be more than happy to do their bit to derail Lyon's Champion's League bid and - provided Thauvin makes the game - they might just do it.

Prediction: Marseille 2 - 1 Lyon
