With the Bundesliga title in the bag once again, Bayern Munich will be seeking the domestic double this weekend as the they take on perhaps the major rising force in the German game in RB Leipzig.


No surprise that it is Bayern Munich who are the all-time most successful club in the history of this competition - they will be seeking a nineteenth success here. RB Leipzig meanwhile are bidding to land the trophy for the very first time.


The clashes between these two in the league this season were very tight; Bayern winning 1-0 at home but being held to a goalless draw in Leipzig.


There won't be any excuses on the injury front in this one, with both sides looking set to be at full strength. This may be something of an emotional occasion for Bayern with Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Rafinha all set to make their final appearance for the club.


Leipzig may well have a slight fitness edge here, having had the luxury of being able to rest almost their entire first team last weekend. Bayern will be high on confidence though having thumped Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 at home.


This is the Bundesliga's best defence versus the leagues best attack in what should make for an interesting clash of styles. We will take attack to prevail.

Just the one booking for each side in this one with referee Tobias Stieler taking the names of Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig and Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich.

This always seemed likely to be something of a season ending celebration for Bundesliga Champion's Bayern Munich, and a game which also represented the end of an era. They have given some service to Bayern over the years, but this match represented the final time Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery will be seen in a Bayern shirt in competitive action. The wing wizards each came off the bench to play a cameo role in what turned into a one sided final.

Bayern opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Kingsley Coman feeding the overlapping David Alaba on the left flank and Alaba sending in a cross from the by-line. Robert Lewandowski was backing away from goal but still directed a perfectly executed header into the bottom left from around ten yards out in a central area. 0-1 at the break.

The second arrived 22 minutes from time. Superb stuff from Coman. Plucking a dropping ball out of the air and deftly controlling inside his marker before taking a touch forward and lashing into the top right corner from around eight yards out on the left hand side.

Any slight doubt as to the destination of the trophy was ended in the 85th minute. Joshua Kimmich's long ball out of defence on the right didn't initially look to be too dangerous, but it curled into a central area allowing Lewandowski to outpace and outmuscle the defence, to then take the ball into the area and dink home down the middle from around the penalty spot. 0-3 final score.

Disappointment for Leipzig. The double for Bayern.
