Having started their season on the right foot with a 3-0 win on the road in Monaco, Lyon will be looking to keep the good times rolling in their first home game of the campaign, as last seasons 13th placed finishers Angers come to town.

Although Lyon came out on top in both matches between these sides last season, it was pretty tight each time, with the final score being 2-1 in both games.

Lyon weren't the only side to get their season off to a positive start, with Angers also posting an impressive result in beating Bordeaux 3-1 at home on the opening weekend. They were particularly ruthless in taking their chances that day - registering three goals from just four shots on target.

Lyon were aided by the fact that Monaco went down to ten men relatively early, but had already looked the better side and took full advantage to come away with the points.

Lyon were solid at home last season in winning 12 of 19 in Ligue 1 and losing only three times. If they are to get any closer to PSG this season, the 17 points they dropped on their own patch does represent one possible area of improvement though.

Angers record away from home wasn't too bad, with five wins a pretty respectable return for a side in their position.

Angers did only score more than once in five of nineteen on the road last season, and they may need more than that to get anything out of this one.

A total rout at the Groupama, as Lyon made a spectacular start to the season in front of their own fans. Angers undoubtedly deserved to lose the game, but were perhaps a little hard done by to do so as emphatically as this - Lyon simply ruthless with the chances they created on the night.

The opener arrived in the 11th minute. Houssem Aouar picking the ball up around 35 yards out and allowed to advance to the edge of the box before unleashing a fine strike into the bottom left from around 18 yards out to the right of centre.

Nine minutes before the break the home side made it two. Moussa Dembélé played in in the left channel, racing into the area before cutting back onto his right and firing into the bottom left from 16 yards.

Then in the 42nd minute this one was as good as over. Aouar attacking the edge of the area and playing in the overlapping Memphis Depay to his left. The Dutchman rifling through the legs of keeper Anthony Lopes from eight yards out to the left. 3-0 at the break.

Aouar and Depay combined once again three minutes into the second half. Lovely lifted ball over the top from Aoar to find Depay free in the area. Nice finish from Depay too, sending the dropping ball into the bottom right from 12 yards.

Démbéle then doubled his own tally for the night in the 65th minute - latching onto a deflected through ball, powering into the left of the area before beating the keeper at his near post from around 12 yards out in the left of the area.

The final blow was struck in the 72nd minute. Wonderful skill from Depay towards the touchline in the left of the area - beating his marker all ends up before picking out Jean Lucas just beyond the penalty spot. Nice finish into the right-hand side from the new man. 6-0 it finished.
