Two sides who were off to a winning start in the Bundesliga do battle on Match Day 2 as RB Leipzig play host to Eintracht Frankfurt.

There was nothing to split these two in their meetings last season - this game ending in a goalless draw and the match in Frankfurt finishing 1-1.


Tyler Adama, Dayot Upamecano and Hannes Wolf miss out for the hosts, whilst Eintracht must make do without Marco Russ, Djibril Sow and Frederik Rönnow.

Leipzig were impressive in thumping new boys Union Berlin 4-0 away from home on the opening day, and will be looking to back that up with a win in their first home game. They do face a step up in calibre of opposition, but having lost only one of 19 at home last season, they will be looking to their form here to carry them to a top four finish once again.

Eintracht beat Hoffenheim 1-0 on Match Day 1, but were good value for more than a one goal winning margin having bossed the game on the stats. They may be at a slight freshness disadvantage though having faced an away day in Europe in midweek.

There was nothing to separate these two last season and this will likely be close once again. Overall though the home side have enough small factors in their favour to sneak the win.

Diego Demme and Yussuf Poulsen were booked for the home side, with Goncalo Paciencia, Dejan Joveljic and Dominik Kohr of Eintracht Frankfurt also making their way into referee Benjamin Cortus's notebook.


Frankfurt started on the front foot and had an excellent chance to take the lead in just the sixth minute. Filip Kostic doing well to burst into the left of the area, only to see his cross come shot drift narrowly wide.


It was instead the hosts who struck first in the tenth minute. Yussuf Poulsen getting up to meet a corner from the right - his near post flick on making its way all the way through to Timo Werner around seven yards out beyond the far post. The front man quickly flashing a volley into the bottom left before the keeper could get across.


Leipzig were on top at this stage and should have doubled their advantage through Werner who looked to have a tap in at the far post, but overran the ball and could only scuff an effort into the six yard box. 1-0 at the break.


Eintracht were struggling to find a way back into the game - mainly being restricted to speculative efforts - and ten minutes from time they found themselves two down. Emil Forsberg breaking down the right and spotting Poulsen in space in the right of the area. Poulsen volleying the dropping ball first time through the legs of keeper Kevin Trapp from around twelve yards.


Time for one more goal and it came in the 89th minute as the visitors grabbed a consolation. Nice run down the right from Timothy Chandler, and a good cross across the six-yard box. Goncalo Paciencia the man arriving to finish on the volley from the right corner of the six-yard area.
