The Bundesliga action continues at the PreZero Stadium on Match Day 4 as Hoffenheim play host to Freiburg. Each of the sides finished in relative mid-table obscurity last season, but it is Freiburg who have made the better start to the current campaign.

Hoffenheim didn't have too much trouble in finding a way through Freiburg in the meetings between the sides last season, winning this game 3-1 and picking up a 4-2 success in the reverse fixture.

Hoffenheim continue to be hindered by the absence of last season's top score Andrej Kramarić who misses out again here, as does Diadie Samassékou. Vincenzo Grifo is ineligible for Freiburg, whilst Marco Terrazzino and Mark Flekken miss out through injury.

Hoffenheim will be looking to improve on their record of seven wins from seventeen in front of their own fans last season. They kept only four clean sheets in those games, but did only lose four times. Their opening home fixture of the current campaign resulted in a 3-2 success over Werder Bremen.

Having only won two of 17 on the road, Freiburg would be looking at their away form as one of the major areas in which they needed to improve. They will likely therefore have been particularly pleased to beat Paderborn 3-1 in their opening away fixture.

This will be tougher than Paderborn but we wouldn't be hugely surprised were Freiburg to get something. Even in the absence of Kramarić though, we still fancy the home side to just about do enough.

Prediction: Hoffenheim 2 - 1 Freiburg

Half time: 0 - 2

Two bookings in this one, both for the away side, with referee Guido Winkmann taking the names of Nicolas Hoffer and Robin Koch of Freiburg.

Something of a turn up in Hoffenheim as the hosts slumped to a comprehensive defeat. It's hard to argue that Freiburg didn't deserve this win - they certainly did - but they were perhaps just a little flattered by the margin of victory. Hoffenheim will feel they created enough chances to get something out of the game, but unfortunately couldn't take any of them.

The visitors grabbed the opener in the eleventh minute. Nice ball from deep on the left by Dominique Heintz to play in Cristian Gunter. Equally smart control from Gunter to make space for the shot and fire into the bottom right corner from around eight yards out on the left.

The hosts then really pushed for an equaliser for a sustained period. Pavel Kaderabek going closest when sending a header narrowly wide.

Hoffenheim's task was made all the more difficult in the 38th minute however as Freiburg struck again. Mike Franz teeing up Janik Haberer almost dead centre on the edge of the eighteen-yard box, and Haberer sending an excellent finish into the bottom right. 0-2 at the break.

Any hopes the home side had of getting anything out of the game were then al but extinguished in the 59th minute. Christian Gunter drilling in a low ball from the left around eighteen yards from goal which made it all the way through to Nils Petersen lurking to the right edge of the six-yard box. Petersen smashing home to end this one as a contest. 0-3 it finished.
