The best is just about saved until last on Match Day 21 in Ligue 1 as last season's runners up Lille welcome defending champions PSG to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Eight points clear at the head of the table, it looks like another season of dominance for PSG. That said, it only takes a couple of results to change things around, and they can't afford to take their eye of the ball in this one.

Currently sitting in fifth spot, Lille will be doing well to match last seasons achievements but are only five points off the top three and so do still have a realistic shot at the Champion's League.

PSG picked up all three points courtesy of a 2-0 success in the reverse of this fixture. It will be Lille who have the far happier memories from the game here last season though, having thrashed PSG 5-1.

Yusuf Yazici, Domagoj Bradaric and Timothy Weah are out injured for the home side. PSG are expected to be without Juan Bernat and Thilo Kehrer.

Lille head into this bidding to avoid a third defeat on the spin. They do have a formidable record here at home though, having now gone unbeaten in their past 14 Ligue 1 fixtures in front of their own fans - keeping a clean sheet in an impressive nine of those games.

PSG have won eight of ten on the road - conceding more than once in only two of those games and scoring two or more in four of their last five.

The gap between these two looks to have grown since last season, but Lille are still a formidable side on their own patch,  and are fancied to do enough to claim a point in what is likely to be entertaining encounter.

Reinildo Madava, Benjamin Andre and Gabriel Magalhaes were all booked for the home side, with Idrissa Gueye of PSG also having his name taken by referee Amaury Delerue.

There wasn't too much in this early, with PSG keeper Keylor Navas being forced into one notable fingertip stop.

It was however PSG who took the lead in the 28th minute. Angel Di Maria clipping the ball into Neymar from out on the right flank. Nice interplay between Neymar and Kylian Mbappé ending with the Brazilian finishing nicely into the top right corner from the edge of the area and central.

Not too many other chances of note in the opening period. 0-1 at the break.

Seven minutes into the second half the champion's doubled their advantage from the spot. Bit of a bizarre one. Mbappé staying on his feet when challenged in the area and smashing in an effort which keeper Mike Maignan saved rather painfully with his face. No appeal from the Frenchman, but VAR thought differently and deemed he had been fouled by Renildo Mandava prior to getting his shot off. Neymar stepped up to finish into the bottom left. The keeper getting plenty on it, but being unable to keep it out.  Neymar saluting the tragic Kobe Bryant with his celebration.

0-2 final score.

Having briefly threatened to be a little bit closer than in recent years, the top of the Ligue 1 table now looks a bit more like that to which we have become accustomed, with PSG ten points clear at the summit on the back of this win. Lille slip down to seventh as they struggle to replicate last seasons fine runners up effort. They now lie six points adrift of third placed Rennes in the race for the Champion's League.
