It's twelfth versus fifth on Match Day 22 in Ligue 1 as Nice play host to a Lyon outfit who now seem to be getting their acts together and discovering a little consistency following what had been a very poor start to the season by their standards.

Lyon picked up the points courtesy of a 2-1 win in the reverse of this fixtures. The most recent meeting between these sides came only last week here in the Coupe De France. That game also resulted in a 2-1 success for Lyon.

Youcef Atal is the only confirmed absentee for the home side. Lyon are expected to be without Léo Dubois, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde, Youssouf Kone and Memphis Depay.

Nice head into this unbeaten in their last five in Ligue 1. They have been pretty good at home this season, losing only two of eleven. Unbeaten in their last six here, they have scored more than once in six of eleven, and conceded one or fewer in nine of those fixtures.

Lyon's general upturn in fortunes has been reflected in their away form, and they head into this unbeaten in their last four on the road. They have scored two or more in five of eleven on their travels overall, and conceded two or more four times.

Lyon have the better squad and are in decent form, but this is a tough place to come. A low scoring draw may be the most likely outcome.

Alexis Claude Maurice and Christophe Herelle were both booked for the home side, with referee Benoit Bastien also taking the names of Marcelo and Rafael Da Silva of Lyon. Both sides also ended the match with only ten men - Lyon's Fernando Marcal being shown the straight red in the 22nd minute, and Adam Ounas of Nice going for a second yellow on the stroke of half-time.

With few real early chances to speak of, the first major incident of the game came with the dismissal of Marcal. The left back hauling back Hichem Boudaoui as he broke down the right and the referee deeming him to be the last man and reaching for the red.

The hosts then took the lead in the 33rd minute. Keeper Ciprian Tatarusanu wrongfooted when an effort from range took a wicked deflection. He did still manage to get to it, but could only palm it out and there was Kasper Dolberg racing in to fire into the left hand side from around six yards out and central.

Ten-man Lyon drew level in the 45th minute. Excellent run by Houssem Aouar bursting into the left of the area and towards the by-line. His low effort taking a touch off the keeper and falling nicely for Karl Toko Ekambi to bundle home from almost on the line.

Then off went Adam Ounas for stupidly raising his hands in what turned into something of a melee. 1-1 at the break.

What turned out to the winner arrived in the 63rd minute. Hichem Boudaoui played in in the right of the area and playing a low ball into the six-yard box. Dolberg getting across his marker to direct in low down the middle from six yards and to the right of centre.

Alexis Claude Maurice struck the post for the hosts late on, but in the end two was enough. 2-1 final score.

Nice move up to eighth with this win, and are now level on points with sixth placed Lyon.
