Of the sides involved in what is becoming an increasingly exciting title race in the Bundesliga this season, it would be Borussia Mönchengladbach who appear to have the simplest task on paper on Match Day 21, with the fourth placed side playing host to an FC Köln outfit who currently sit way down in 14th.

Things aren't always as straightforward as they first appear though, and this looks a major potential banana skin for Gladbach, with Köln heading into the game in excellent form.

Gladbach did win both the game here last season and the reverse fixture in the current campaign, but the games were tight, with 1-0 being the score-line on both occasions.

Ramy Bensebaini and Tony Jantschke are out injured for the home side, whilst top scorer Alassane Pléa is suspended. No confirmed absentees for FC Köln at this stage.

Gladbach are positively rolling at home this season, and head into this game seeking a ninth consecutive Bundesliga success in front of their own fans. They have scored two or more in all eight of those previous wins, conceding two or more only twice. Having picked up a solid draw away at Leipzig last time out, they will be looking to build on that here.

Following a dire start to the season, something seems to have clicked for Köln of late, and they now head into this having won five of their past six in the Bundesliga. Four of those wins have come at home though. They have won only two of ten on the road - conceding two or more eight times.

Despite Köln's upturn in fortunes, they still look overmatched here. The loss of Pléa is a significant blow, but Gladbach should still have enough to get the job done.

Prediction: Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 - 1 FC Köln
