The Match Day 3 action in the Bundesliga concludes at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA as Wolfsburg play host to RB Leipzig. Fourth and second respectively in the table last season, will there be much between the sides this time around?

Wolfsburg have begun their campaign in solid style, winning 1-0 here against Bochum, and 2-1 on the road at Hertha Berlin.

RB haven't been quite so good; losing 1-0 on the road to Mainz before beating Stuttgart comfortably 4-0 in their first home game.

There was nothing to split the siders last season, with both this game and the reverse fixture in Leipzig ending in a 2-2 draw.

Paulo Otávio, William, Aster Vranckx and Bartosz Bielek are all out for the hosts, whilst most concerningly Wout Weghorst is rated as doubtful.

Wolfsburg were one of the better home sides in the league last season, losing only three of 17, scoring two or more in eleven and conceding more than once in just five of those games.

Leipzig were decent on the road overall last term with eight wins from 17. They have however now lost each of their last four away fixtures going back to last term.
Wolfsburg do like to attack, and facing a RB manager in Jesse March who likes to do likewise, we could be in for an entertaining encounter here. Looks tough to pick a winner though. Score draw.

Prediction: Wolfsburg 2 - 2 RB Leipzig

Wolfsburg: Renato Steffen (Yellow), Xaver Schlager (Yellow), Josuha Guilavogui (Yellow), Jerome Roussillon (Yellow)
RB Leipzig: Josko Gvardiol (Yellow), Tyler Adams (Yellow)

52 minutes 1-0 (Jerome Roussillon): Renato Steffen attacking down the left-hand side and whipping a low ball across the area. Peter Gulacsi getting to it, but only being able to palm the ball straight out and into the path of Rousillon who made no mistake in firing home high to the left-hand side from around eight yards out and central.

Analysis: A tighter game than anticipated this one, with the first half in particular being a very scrappy affair. Ridie Baku going closest for the home side with a twenty-yard curling effort which Peter Gulacsi was forced to tip over the crossbar. Leipzig's biggest chance coming at the end of a lofted free kick from deep. Koen Casteels blocking a headed effort and Mohamed Simakan firing the rebound over the crossbar.

Wolfsburg had a golden opportunity to put daylight between the sides soon after taking the lead when a misplaced pass sent Wout Weghorst racing through in the right channel and into the area. You would fancy the hitman from there, but unfortunately for the home fans Weghorst got right under his effort this time and fired over the bar.

A one goal lead is always a precarious one and Wolfsburg did have one or two nervous moments, most notably when a cross in from the right struck the racing in Willi Orban but luckily for the hosts deflected over the bar from only a few yards out and central. One goal was enough in the end.

League Standings: Wolfsburg three from three and sitting pretty at the top of the table. Leipzig down in tenth.
