Gerard Pique to miss Copa del Rey semifinal

Gerard Pique most likely will miss upcoming clash in Copa del Rey semifinal against Valencia as he is suffering from a knee injury and also, faces another clash in Champions League game against Chelsea in this month, where he needs to be one hundred fit.

Gerard sustained the injury in second half in hard Catalan derby at Cornella-El Prat. Spanish defender underwent tests in the training ground yesterday and things are not as bad as it was feared: he will probably miss upcoming two games.

The club have not officially confirmed yet how long he will miss, but the coach Ernesto Valverde will not take any risks to play him in upcoming game.

As with Pique Thomas Vermaelen is also out of squad because of injury, it may give Yerry Mina debut chance, who was signed for €11.8 in January but has been on bench for last three matches.

At the same time, Barca also confirmed that left-back Lucas Digne has broken a finger in the game at Cornella-El Prat on Sunday. The left-back was taken off for Jordi Alba in the second half, and the club say “his evolution from the injury will mark his availability for upcoming games.”
