LA Galaxy thinking about Ibrahimovic deal

LA Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid said he will only think about having Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his squad once a deal between the two clubs happens.

The 36-year-old scored 27 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season, his first at Old Trafford, before injuring the ACL in his right knee in April.

Ibrahimovic left United at the end of his one-year deal, only to sign another at the end of August having impressed the club with his recovery.

The former Sweden international has made seven appearances for United this season but has been out since Boxing Day after injuring the same knee.

Galaxy have long been linked with a move for Ibrahimovic and could make a deal with the help of targeted allocation money.

“If it happens, it happens, and once it happens, then we’ll give thought to it,” Schmidt¬†told the MLS website. “Right now, it’s preparing the group that I have and preparing the group that I have to win games. He’s a big player. Big players have an impact on your team, whether that’s Zlatan or whether that’s [Lionel] Messi or a Neymar. Guys like that have an impact on your team. Obviously, he’s been a successful player, he’s won trophies everywhere he’s been, but until it happens, I’m not going to worry about it.”
