Manchester United set giant price on De Gea

The Spanish and European champions infamously failed to sign the Manchester United goalkeeper two-and-a-half years ago, when for some reason they thought using a fax machine in the Year Of Our Lord 2015 was a perfectly normal thing to do. Real’s paperwork wasn’t received in time and De Gea ended up staying at Old Trafford.

Anyway, since then, De Gea has gone onto establish himself as arguably the world’s best goalkeeper while Real have kept Costa Rican stopper Keylor Navas between the sticks and have won a couple of Champions Leagues and a La Liga title. So the failed move worked out well for everyone.

However, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Los Blancos are ready to reignite their interest in the former Atletico Madrid man and United have now named their price. However, Red Devils are demanding a monstrous fee for their number one.

The Spanish outlet is reporting that the Europa League holders have placed a £115 million price tag on De Gea’s head, in the hope of warding off interest from the La Liga giants.

United are also believed to be readying a new contract offer for De Gea, who’s current deal expires in the summer of 2019. However, it is also being reported that the 27-year-old is demanding wages of £375,000-per-week to stay at Old Trafford instead of securing his dream move to the Bernabeu.

De Gea has been at United since 2011, when he arrived from Atletico Madrid as a 19-year-old in a £19 million deal. Over the course of his six-and-a half-years at Old Trafford, De Gea has lifted a Premier League title, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Europa League and has also been named United’s Player Of The Year three times and has been selected in the PFA Team Of The Season four times. The Spain international has played 300 times for United and has also won 25 caps for his country.
