A home loss to Lyon last weekend effectively put an end to Monaco's unexpected title challenge. There is plenty left to play for though with a Champion's League spot still up for grabs.

Sitting two points adrift of third placed Lyon, with this game in hand, Monaco can keep their Champion's League destiny in their own hands as they travel to the Stade Auguste-Delaune II to take on an eleventh placed Reims outfit.

There was nothing to split the sides in the reverse of this fixture, with the game in Monaco ending in a 2-2 draw. All square in the game here last season too - goalless on that occasion.

Valon Berisha is the only expected absentee for the home side. Monaco will be without the suspended duo of Pietro Pellegri and Willem Guebbels in addition to Stevan Jovetic, Aleksandr Golovin, Chrislain Matsima, Kr├ępin Diatta and Eliot Matazo.

Reims head into this with just the one defeat in their last eleven in Ligue 1, although no fewer than eight of those games have ended in a draw. They have won only four of 17 so far at home, but again six of the last seven here have ended in a draw.

Monaco's five game winning streak was brought to an end in that loss to Lyon and they will be looking to bounce back here. Nico Kovacs' men have won nine of their last ten on the road, scoring two or more in seven of those games, and keeping a clean sheet in each of their last three.

The missing players situation favours the home side, but on current form and motivation, we still fancy Monaco to just about do enough.

20 minutes 0-1 (Eliot Matazo): Eliot Matazo picking up possession in his own half to the left of centre and powering forward. Drifting towards the middle he then found Wissam Ben Yedder to the right. Ben Yedder into the area and playing an excellent low ball across to pick out Matazo who had continued his run. The forward all alone around six yards out and central and coolly slotting home low to the left-hand side. Slick goal from the visitors.

Analysis: Not all that much in this on the stats at all really. Monaco bossing possession but being matched by Reims in terms of shots on target. That possibly doesn't really give an accurate reflection of the game though as Monaco were far more dominant than those figures would suggest in terms of territory and the number of dangerous situations they managed to work, with the only real wonder being that they didn't manage to find that second goal which would have put this game to bed.
They did certainly have their chances. Matazo nearly grabbing a second himself only to completely miss his kick having rounded the keeper to the left in the first half. Youssef Fofana coming closest after the interval when bombing forward up the middle on the counterattack only to fire just wide of the right hand upright from the edge of the area.

League Standings: Monaco sit third on the back of this. Five points off the top with only two games to play, they surely won't be winning the league now, but do maintain a one-point gap over fourth placed Lyon in the race for the Champion's League. Reims sit thirteenth and look safe in midtable.
